World Athletics U20 Championships
STL'S Hallee Knelsen is one 33 athletes who qualified to represent Canada at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Columbia, August 1-6. Hallee will be competing in the women's 800m in the preliminary rounds on Monday at 12:08pm our time.
This is the first National team selection for Hallee, where she will gain some valuable experience at the international level. She aims to set a personal best time in the process, currently 2:06.74, and has a goal to make the semifinals and with good fortune, the finals at these Championships.
We are so very proud of Hallee and wish her the best of luck this week.
U20 & Open AO Championships
Eight (8) medals at the U20 & Open AO Championships over the weekend at York University in Toronto, ON, for the St. Thomas Legion Track & Field Club.
Hallee Knelsen repeated her titles from last year by winning both 800m (2:09.61) and 1500m (4:36.91) in middle distance events.
AJ Stanat won 3 silver medals in the Throwing events of Shot Put (15.01m), Discus (43.72m) and Hammer Throw with a new personal best of (50. 64m).
Dylen Belanger captured the silver medal in the 400m Hurdles (55.39), and he placed 4th in the 110m Hurdles with a NPB of (14.67), and 11th overall in the 200m with a NPB at the prelims (22.97)
Mason Basson won the bronze medal in the 1500m with a 7 second personal best with the time of (4:02.66). He placed 5th in the 800m on Sunday with another NPB of (1:53.91) in that even.
Tayah DeSousa captured the silver medal in the Long Jump with a jump of (5.41m), and later placed 4th in the 100m Hurdles.
Boston College Last Chance
Hallee Knelsen, St. Thomas Legion TFC, set a personal best time of two minutes and 6.74 seconds (2:06.74), placing fourth, in the women's 800-metre run, at the Boston University Last Chance indoor track and field meet today. Knelsen's time meets the standard of 2:07.2, making the 18-year old eligible for the 2022 U20 World Athletics outdoor championships, in Cali, Columbia, August 1-6, 2022.
